Robert L. Jackstadt practices in the areas of commercial, construction and education litigation. Rob has tried to a conclusion many jury and non-jury cases in federal and state courts located in Illinois and Missouri. Recently, he was the lead trial lawyer in an East St. Louis federal court case where the jury rendered a defendants’ verdict on a retaliation lawsuit based on Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Similarly, he obtained a defendant’s verdict for a manufacturer of a pinch roll machine filed in the City of St. Louis by a worker who severely injured her hand and asked the jury to award her $3.5 million. Rob also secured a directed verdict in favor of Saint Louis University in a case filed by a tenured professor against the University. He also successfully argued a $1.7 million construction case to the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. He also has tried matters before the Illinois Education Labor Relations Board and before the American Arbitration Association. Rob’s trial experience includes litigation involving tax increment financing (“TIF”) districts, equipment leases, condemnation, construction, performance and payment bonds, non-competition agreements, securities and mechanic’s liens. Rob has negotiated many construction contracts, including architect agreements, construction manager agreements, and general contractor agreements. Rob is a former member of the Edwardsville School Board, a former trustee and planning commission member for the Village of Glen Carbon and is currently the Mayor of the Village of Glen Carbon- a part time position. Rob is a founding Shareholder of the Firm. Prior to founding the Firm, he was a partner at Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin in its St. Louis office. Rob serves on the Firm’s Management Committee.
