Melanie Keeney is Featured Speaker at 43rd Annual CACUBO Winter Workshop
 

Attorneys from Tueth Keeney often contribute their time and talents on a voluntary basis to educate and inform members of the educational community. Melanie Keeney, shareholder with the firm, recently spoke at the 43rd Annual CACUBO Winter Workshop. The Central Association of College and University Business Officers' (CACUBO) mission is to improve college and university financial management and business administration and to promote the profession's ideals, ethics and standards. The theme of this year's Winter Workshop was "Come in Out of the Cold and Warm Up Your Skills" offering 24 concurrent sessions over the course of two days.  Melanie gave an "Employment Law Update", highlighting recent developments in employment law and offering suggestions for lowering risk of costly litigation on February 9, 2011.  The conference took place at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark.

Melanie Gurley Keeney practices in the areas of school, higher education, labor and employment, and immigration law. Her experience in education law includes representing numerous Missouri school districts and institutions of higher education regarding a wide range of personnel and student matters. Melanie also specializes in First Amendment issues, ranging from free speech to religion in the schools, and she regularly advises school districts on these issues. Melanie has extensive experience litigating both federal and state cases. Melanie is a past board member of the National School Board Association’s Council of School Attorneys and is past Chairman of the Missouri Council of School Attorneys. She is a popular speaker on topics such as immigration, labor and education law on the local and national level. Melanie has been listed in St. Louis Magazine's "St. Louis Best Lawyers" and "The Best Lawyers in America," from 1997-present, and in "Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers," 2005-2010  editions as a top lawyer and one of the top 50 female lawyers in Missouri and Kansas and in Kansas City Magazine as one of the "Top Missouri Lawyers."
